This is the era of communication and technology. Till today there has been a vast change in the world of communication and technology. Different means are there for different sorts of communication. And the communication has become the means of education.


We generally term teacher as an educator. The one teaches us about us, our family, our nation, our planet, our universe is our teacher. And the well known means of communication, television (TV) also has become the great teacher.

TV is the means which has been spread all over the world. The whole world is interlinked to its media. TV is associated with different channels, of different countries. It telecast news, entertainment shows, documentaries, fiction, cartoons, educational shows, fashions, etc. for each age group there is a show present in TV.

Mostly, we learn only those things which we really try to learn. As all other things, TV also has its positive and negative teachings. But, even TV can be a good teacher. As we start watching TV in our initial age, we mostly start it form animation and cartoons. The first learning given by these shows is they teach language to the viewers. As they grow up, they start watching different serials and reality shows, these teaches them a lot about the reality of life, ways to handle life. Even some of the shows teach them about different science facts. Along with the news and documentaries in TV, people get a lot of information about the world, galaxy and even universe. This is visual and audio device so mostly all people can enjoy this without getting bored. Parent is the first teacher of everybody. As well as, TV set can be a good parent to single parent family where the parent had to go to job leaving their children at home. In single parent family when there is no to take care of children, TV set can be parent for them. TV set can be like a good parent or co-parent in special condition when the parent can’t give time to children. Better care of the children can be given with a direct care, interaction etc but all single parent can’t give much time due to their poor economic condition. I do not think that TV can really do the job of the mother. Mother has the greatest meaning as a living being which the non-living thing TV can’t do. So, can the TV occupy the position of mother? So, TV can be a good teacher but not a good mother as the real mother. Much more educational programs are needed for kids to end culture of war and violence in the present world.

But still in some areas TV are being misused. If the proper information is tried to gain from TV then it would be the best source of information and education. To all the age and kind of people it is the best and easiest way to get education. To conclude, TV can be a good teacher.
